About the IKDC

Who it is for

Designed for patients with ligamentous injuries, meniscal pathology, or articular cartilage lesions who are active or wish to return to activity. Best suited for younger, more active individuals.

What it measures

The IKDC measures symptoms (pain, swelling, locking, giving way), sports activities capability, and current knee function. It provides a single overall score reflecting the patient's perceived knee health.

Reading your score

Higher scores represent higher levels of function and fewer symptoms. Scores can be categorized: Normal (≥90), Near Normal (80-89), Abnormal (70-79), Severely Abnormal (<70).

Important. These questionnaires are provided for education and self-tracking. A score is not a diagnosis and does not replace advice from a doctor or physiotherapist. Seek urgent care for a knee that is hot, red and swollen, follows a significant injury, or will not bear weight.
